Game Direction:

So, I have been getting (surprisingly) a lot of reviews pertaining to plot elements within my game and the direction that I've chosen to take certain areas. Mainly, many people think that the suspension of disbelief in my game is taken too far and ruined with the way that the player character reacts to their new choices and life. I honestly didn't think I'd have to explain this stuff for a while and people would just ignore it until I was able to tie it together, but I guess I don't write sex scenes good enough to justify a very vague intro.

DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS HERE ON OUT

Nicholas Bright, as planned, is the persona of a character with a Superman-esque origin story, but with a few twists. Divinity is an alien princess born to a far off planet which has been destroyed. She was sent to Earth in the hopes of preserving her life and species, disguised as a human boy. That boy is Nicholas Bright. Within the carrier was actually a starter. It's designed to bind to Nick and to turn them back into Divinity after it was deemed safe enough for them to do so.

Nick's body and mind recognize this as a sort of familiarity. As such, he doesn't question it for a while, but it will eventually become a plot piece if I don't scrap it altogether.

For the people who enjoy the forced transformation aspect of a guy not wanting to be a girl, I apologize. That's just not how Divinity is going to pan out for now. That may change in the future, but it was never the original idea.

As for them not questioning their new superhero profession, Divinity's species heal through rest and are extremely durable. They also have increased reflexes and many other superhuman traits. Subconsciously, Nick recognizes this, so he has no problems fighting alongside the people who did save his life.

And finally, for the point that Nick and his new incarnation are fine fucking everyone, that's just them being pansexual. Yes, yes, super lazy I know. But that's what I am and I don't really know how I'd handle the whole, "Oh I used to be straight. Why am I attracted to men?" thing. I fuck everyone, so Nick and Divinity fuck everyone. EZPZ.

So, yes, Nick's absolute acceptance of the situation he was thrown in is weird, but entirely intentional. He'll eventually doubt it and have his own little identity crisis, but it's planned a little further down the road.

(Also, he was kind of a loner, and unaccomplished fuck, and his life finally has meaning. Cut him some slack for enjoying it.)

SPOILERS END HERE.

Personal Life:

If you are still reading this far into the blog post, I salute you~! I'm surprised anyone actually cares this much, but here is what's happening with me, and what it means for Divinity.

It should go without saying that I am not committing the time of a job to this. I work a full time job that has a weird ass schedule and I'm fitting in time to write this on the side. As such, I'm unable to really make any promises about when I'm posting updates. Due to this, I'm going to make it a habit to tag all posts like this as "build" just so you can get to the good part easily. In between, I'm going to try to put up mini updates so that everyone knows what's happening and that I didn't just disappear. Despite that, I'm trying to do at least weekly updates. Bear with me if I miss a week every now and then.

Speaking of disappearing though, I was actually planning to drop this project. In the spirit of honesty, the last few days have been terrible for me.

It consisted of getting dumped, crying, eating ice cream, contemplating taking him back, having a panic attack, eating more ice cream (this time in the form of a cake), listening to Every Open Eye and The Bones of What You Believe by Chvrches back to back, crying some more, sleeping for 14 hours straight, and finally, getting up. I learned that I didn't really want to do anything anymore, but then had a revelation that what I want isn't what I need.

What I need is to do something fulfilling. A project like this is something that has been in the making for a long time and I finally had the drive to start it. I may not have that same drive, but I'm going to finish it regardless. Motivation can go fuck itself.

(For the full disclosure, though, this patch is probably going to be wrought with bugs and typos. At least 80% of it was written through the hazy tears of a heart broken girl.)

BUT, it's not all bad, you know? I found out that drawing and writing are actually super cathartic activities. And I also learned that crying a lot makes your boobs hurt, which was funny and made me stop crying for a bit. And that Blaze and Frigid make for really hot af sex scenes.

Anyways, I guess what I'm getting at is that for now, Divinity and I are here to stay. Oooooh also, I'm super self conscious about my sex scenes. All the reviews are about my intro and quests. Can I just get a little insight about the fucking? Thanks.

Art:

(Yeah, I'm not an artist, and it sucks. I just wanted to put it here because I did work on it and used it to help guide my characters.)

  1. So, I've been waiting for this game to receive a thread over on tfgamesite, but its yet to happen, so I finally broke down and decided to write a little something here.

First, I'd like to say that I'm really enjoying this game so far, and am more than a little excited to see it grow. All indications are that its well thought out, and its decently written. Its great work, keep it up!

You expressed an interest in receiving a little feedback on your sex scenes: I personally thought they were pretty hot and felt they were well written, though a little more detail would be welcome. You've got a talent for writing in general, and the sex scenes are no exception. Best part is that every writer gets better with experience, and with this as a starting point, your writing will be truly exceptional given time and practice.

Now for a little constructive criticism:
-The combat needs a little work on balancing. As of right now, I can go into the second fight with Void with STR 10, DEF 10, and it takes +500 rounds to resolve the fight. In all that time, I never hit him, and he only ever hits me for a single point of damage, and its pretty rare that he hits me. It begs the question (I havent tested this, or looked under the hood of your game to take a look) but would having a higher defense for your character make it so the fight would drag out indefinitely?
-You should really open up a discussion thread on any sites that you are sharing your game. It would fans of your project an easy way to discuss your game.

As for your personal life problems, . . . I really feel for you. Life is filled with ups and downs, and it always breaks my heart to hear that someone is experiencing one of life's tragic downs. I sincerely hope that happier days arrive soon.

And last but not least: An olive branch. If you want more specific feedback on your project, or just want to air your troubles, feel free to PM me over on TFGameSite, you can find me under the username: GateKeeper.

Good luck and best wishes to both you, and your project moving forward.

  2. OH SHIT, VOID. JESUS CHRIST I REDID THE BATTLE SYSTEM AND FORGOT TO SCALE HIS STATS LMAO. Okay stats will be on my next list of things to change for next patch!

As for the sex scenes, thanks. Detail will probably be added sometime in the next two patches, when I'm comfortable with the quantity of the content. They're all first drafts, so I know they're in heavy need of editing.

As for the discussion thread, I am actually really new to tfgamessite in general, and had no idea there was a forum. I'll make one right now. Thanks for the suggestion!
